I still remember listening to Japanese music when I was in high school with my friends, watching Japanese Animation, dance videos (Japan Dance Delight) from the old skool such as Electric trouble, Jungle, Tony T, to their movies, reading Dragon Ball Z comics (which I’m very saddened about the movie) Option car mags. Going to the Japanese super market to spend $75US (which is a paycheck plus) on a shift knob and then some on pedals because I didn’t see the point of fixing up your car on the outside especially when you can’t even see it while you’re driving. But more importantly I was just blown away by the culture in itself. The style they have, regardless if it was clothing, girls, music, whatever, etc etc…I still remember thinking to myself about how awesome it would be to perform for a living. Dance, making music, and maybe one day perform in countries all over the world.
Later this month I’ll be releasing my first Japan EP (single). Danm…A chunky chinese kid born in Santa Monica who only loved saturday morning cartoons, poppin’, lockin’, and the icing on that is the attention u get from girls when u dance since they never really gave me the time of day otherwise. But that’s besides the point…Now…releasing a album in Japan, singing in Japanese. Lord I don’t know what I did to deserve this, but I thank you God for blessing me with my hearts desires, and then some. For the things that even I myself don’t know I want sometimes. Thank you.
hmm…maybe I should get a mohawk…
The title track "Only" is sooooooooo J-POP till you DROP it's not even funny...The record company thought it would be a good way to introduce myself to the public in Japan who don't really know the skinny on me...Hmm...when in Rome...anyway....it's a light hearted song, very uplifting. Reminds me of Disneyland...
And the other 2 songs "Cinderella" (no pun intended) and Hello Super Star are the tracks that I exec Produced with Terry Lee, Skot Suyama, Vic Lau, Gaby Lee, and DJ Sakamoto. It's a been a great learning process~
